Peritoneal surgery
Surgery of the peritoneal mesothelium is performed to remove malignant tissues and, when necessary, the affected abdominal organ. Peritoneal surgery is also mainly used as a palliative procedure. Statistics show little increase in the survival rate with the use of this procedure.

Pericardial surgery
A rare form of mesothelioma affects the lining of the heart. Surgery for this condition removes the lining around the heart. This is a palliative treatment usually not intended to achieve a cure.

Orchidectomy
An extremely rare form of mesothelioma affects the testicles and is classified as a peritoneal (abdominal) mesothelioma. Surgical treatment is the same as used for other organs of the abdomen, which includes removal of the affected mesothelium and sometimes the affected organ (orchidectomy).
